Meanness Laws' Effect on Jerome's Characters

If anything can do wrong, it will!
If Jay or Harris or George dwelled on their motto it would soundlike the most famous Murphy low. They all were lazybones. Each was tooself-assured and egoistic. So this trinity attracted troubles.
Because of that, the lives of Jerome's heroes we can hardly callboring. George and Harris always got into the scrapes. During their travelingthey came across many everyday situations, but because of their incompetencethey could do nothing properly. Arrangement for the journey was almost thebrightest example of Murphy's laws effect. «It seemed a longer job than Ihad thought it was going to be; but I got the bag finished at last, and I saton it and strapped it.»  Murphy's Law reads as follows: It always takeslonger than you think. But the process of arrangement wasn't finished. Harrisnoticed that Jay hadn't put the boots in and moreover it was still a questionwhether the toothbrush was packed.  In this case Murphy can comforts with thestatement:  If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the onethat will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong.  So our hero hadnothing to do, but to turn every thing out in search. «I rummaged thethings up into much the same state that they must have been before the worldwas created, and when chaos reigned.» Murphy's response: Chaos alwayswins, because it's better organized, or Any time you put an item in a«safe place», it will never be seen again.
Incompetence wasn't the one reason of their problems. No one wasfortunate, so some cases were happening due to their bad luck. Among them arewrong weather forecast when they were going on picnic (The wind will alwaysblow opposite to your hairdo), no cabs on the street when the heroes need it(Traffic is inversely proportional to how late you are, or are going to be.),branch that gave way and forced Jay to dip into Thames and the spectacularepisode of fixing the tent (You will find an easy way to do it, after you'vefinished doing it).
Other source of disasters is coincidences like running against pairof lovers everywhere, getting ill just on holidays, or no free rooms in thehotels. Jerome K. Jerome describes these situations with a brilliant sense ofhumor. It is maid for us to be optimistic and extract maximum use from thegiven lessons.
Don't live in Murphy's world as the heroes did. But remember if itlooks good, and it taste good, and it feels good, there has got to be somethingwrong somewhere. Be careful! And if you feel bad — smile… tomorrow can beworse. 
