Yes, I fully agree that you must be careful of outward appearances. Appearances can be very deceiving, as we saw in the play Othello. Othello did not know that Iago had a hidden agenda, had Othello known that Iago was untruthful, this Shakespearean tragedy would not of happened.

“Honest Iago, my Desdemona must I leave to thee”. All throughout the play, Othello always refers to Iago as “Honest Iago”. We as the audience see that Iago is not so honest after all. Iago has other ideas to ruin Othello. Iago starts a rumor that Cassio has slept with his wife, because he wanted the position of lieutenant that was given to Cassio. Roderigo is the only other person in the play, until the end, that knows of his plan for revenge. His wife, Emilia, whom finds the handkerchief and gives it to Iago does not know of his dark plans.

Shakespeare s Othello does not strike very far from the truth about outward appearances. Even real life people may not be whom they seem. Famous people have to be very careful, someone might be trying to get close to him for him money or fame, not for the person that he or she is.

This play reminds me of the story

Shakespeare is telling people in the play Othello to not trust a person because of what they look like on the outside. He is telling us that there can be two different sides to people. And what they are showing you might not be there real intent.
