They had a house and oven, which belonged to the lord and a mill, as well as well. It also had a church, priest house, blacksmith’s shop,
And the serf’s house. Since the manor had everything there was no reason to leave, so during this time there was no communication and no cultural diffusion. The serf’s could not leave the manor even though the lords moved the serfs couldn’t because they were tied to the land as well as future generations. The serfs also did not have a lot of rights. They had to work 15 days in a month; they also had to pay a fee to use the windmill, lord’s oven among other things.
