$7,500 scholarship

On September 30, 1999, Charles Johnson won a $7,500 scholarship from the Department of Agriculture at Washington State University for being Central High School’s number one student.
C.H.S.’s principal, J. R. Morton, made the final decision when Johnson won the science fair with his project on Radioisotopes.
Johnson loves sports, mainly baseball. Johnson was also his junior class president at C.H.S.. He enjoys fly-fishing with his grandfather on weekends.
Johnson is also in National Honor Society and is a Boy Scout volunteer. “I really enjoy working with the kids in Boy Scouts,” says Johnson.
” My plans to major in Nuclear Physics,” Johnson exclaims, “My favorite thing is science. All the neat experiments I work on just make me want to quiver with excitement.”
“Johnson is just one of those kids you want to become a leader in the future,” Morton state’s, “He is never in trouble, and he is always willing to help, no matter what.”
“I just hope that once I start at W.S.U. my grandfather and I can still go out fly-fishing on weekends,” Johnson says.
