Calculating Acceleration Pulled By Different Weights Essay, Research Paper
Calculating
Acceleration pulled by different weights.??????????????? 22.9.99Aim:?
To find out the acceleration of a trolley being pulled on by different amounts of weight. Method: We set up a friction
compensated runway lifting on end of the runway up slightly so that it doesn’t
stop half way.? Then we put a light gate
at one end so that when the trolley passed through it, it would measure the
time it took for the 20 cm of card attached to it to pass through.? Then at the bottom end of the runway we put
a wheel so we could tie string to the trolley and at the other end, we could
add different amounts of weight.? On
each go we measured the time the trolley took, start to finish, the time the
card took to pass through the light gate.Diagram: Mass (g) Force (N) Time 1 (s) Time 2 (s) Vf=20/t2 (cm/s) a=vf/t1 (cm/s/s) 0 0 0 0 0 0 50 0.5 1.32 0.27 74.1 56.1 100 1 0.86 0.19 105.3 122.4 150 1.5 0.67 0.16 125.0 186.6 200 2 0.63 0.14 142.9 226.8 250 2.5 0.6 0.13 153.8 256.4 300 3 0.57 0.12 166.7 292.4 350 3.5 0.55 0.11 181.8 330.6 400 4 0.53 0.1 200.0 377.4
