Hazing

Hey freshman come over here and let me show you something cool! yells the senior.

Of course the freshman follows the strict seniors orders. Dave, the freshman, puts on his seat belt

as Mark, the freshman flies away. Dave looks at his watch, his mom was expecting him home an

hour ago. Mark pulls in to an abandoned factory. As they both get out of the car Mark puts a

blindfold on Dave. Next, Mark pulls out a knife and cuts a letter D on his arm. He runs in to his

car and pulls down the window. Next, he tells Dave he s part of the cool group and says now he

has to find his way home as he drives away. This is a case of hazing, should it be allowed in

schools?

Hazing should be a harmless practical prank or a embarrassment-free joke. There are

enough pranks and jokes for each school to have as their own ritual so why do we all have

the same one in different forms, beating each other up? For example, you could have to wear the

same silly clothes as your best bud or going through a obstacle course.

Children can be very cruel in the older grades. And in some seventh and eighth grade

schools they have a day that is called seventh grade beat down day where the eighth graders beat

up the seventh graders. The scary thing is it could happen in your own town! Some students

could get seriously injured or in terrible cases killed! Students that witness this can be

emotionally injured for life. Most children who witness this will never tattle-tale on anyone, they

will most likely take their secrets with them to their grave.

Adolescent minds only thin about being mean and harmful to other peers and I think that

it needs to be changed! They should focus on school and home work instead of murder and

initiations! My opinion is that we should minimize hazing to a painless prank or a joyful joke.
