Personally, I do not find Jem very bad or very good but I do find him kind of powerful. I placed Jem in the Neutral Square for good or weak because he is not a perfect child. In the story he tries to contact Boo Radley by sneaking in through the back window. He then gets Arthur (Boo?s brother) upset and Arthur almost shoots Jem. This causes a lot of friction in the story. He is also considered good because he helps Scout understand why Atticus is pursuing this trial. In a sense Jem is powerful. I consider he powerful because Chapters 12-13 he reaches the age 12 and he then tells Scout to stop pestering him and act more like a girl. When he makes this statement Scouts becomes very upset. He is powerful by making his sister cry and powerful enough to with stand criticism from other people in the town or at school. Throughout the whole Trial he is constantly hearing people call his dad a ?nigger lover.? He is also powerful because he stands up to Mrs. Dubose. She also criticisms him because of his father. He then tears up her garden. Mrs. Dubose insists that he come and read to her everyday for a month. He then has to do it and is powerful enough to with stand the constant criticism from her.
