After extensive research of ten possible mining sites, Turkin? Co. purchased thirty-six hundred acres of mineral rights. At every site we ran several tests determining the copper content. We generally purchased land from every site that had some copper in the ground. After surveying the land for a general description, we obtained mineral rights and took samples of the rocks. We checked the ions found for traces of copper. When copper was found we obtained assay results. Using this data we calculated the copper percentage. Several times we obtained a reserve analysis when we were unsure how much rock was available. We didn?t do this often due to the expense of the analysis.

We bought as much land with copper as practical. We bought land from every site that had copper, but the amount of land depended on the copper percentage in the rock. If sites contained over two percent copper, we purchased up to one thousand acres depending on our budget. The sites with under two percent copper, we purchased up to five hundred acres. A few site contained no copper, therefore we didn?t purchase any land there. We ended up with two thousand acres of land over two percent, and we purchased sixteen hundred acres of land under two percent. We would have liked to have purchased more high-grade land, but our budget limited what we could buy.
