Industrial Revolution Of England Essay Research Paper

The Industrial Revolution of England in the late 19th century brought many sweeping changes along with it. The most radical change brought on by the Industrial Revolution was the installment of a free public school system. In an article written by Christopher Argyle (a scholar on the Industrial Revolution in England) he states the creation of the public school was a response to abuse of children in the workforce during the Industrial Revolution. Argyle believe that the creation of a public school system would keep children of out the labor market. Through my research I have concluded a different reason for the creation of public schools. I will argue that creation of a public school system in England was not keep the children out of the labor market, but it was created because of a throwback in Enlightenment era thinking. Policticians using the cover of the Industrial Revolution as an excuse exercised ideas long since present in order to create a public school system.
